From birth; BIBS says all sizes can be introduced from birth, but most newborns prefer a smaller size and the common recommendation is Size 1 from 0+ months.
Start with an age-based size, usually Size 1, and try round, symmetrical, or anatomical shapes to find the best fit for your baby.
Every 4-6 weeks of use, or sooner at the first sign of damage or weakness.
Discard the pacifier and replace it with a new one. Before each use, pull the nipple in all directions and inspect it carefully.
If a natural rubber latex nipple shows changes in the surface, size, or shape; rupture in the material; becomes brittle or sticky; or becomes enlarged.
Stop using that pacifier and replace it immediately.
Around the 6-month mark, or as soon as your baby shows signs of teething or starts rejecting the smaller nipple size.
If your chosen BIBS pacifier design is available in Size 2 and your baby still uses a pacifier, transition from Size 1 to Size 2.
When your child has teeth.
Be extra aware of signs of damage or weakness in the material. Pull the nipple in all directions before use and replace at the first sign of damage or weakness.
From around 12 months of age.
Start reducing pacifier use and try limiting it to soothing before sleep at night.
At 18 months and older, if your toddler still benefits from pacifier use.
If your chosen BIBS pacifier design is available in Size 3, move to Size 3.
Between 2 and 3 years, depending on local guidelines.
Complete pacifier weaning and discontinue regular pacifier use.
