From birth, with the Tripp Trapp® Newborn Set.
Attach the Newborn Set to the Tripp Trapp® chair and secure the child with the 5-point harness. Stokke states the Newborn Set has 2 angle-adjustable positions.
Adjust regularly as your child grows.
Make sure the Newborn Set harness is snugly fitted, and keep the child secured by the restraining system in either the reclining or upright position.
When the child can sit unaided / sit upright unassisted, or weighs more than 20 lb (9.1 kg); the Newborn Set is intended for children up to 9 kg, 0-6 months, whichever occurs first.
Stop using the Tripp Trapp® Newborn Set. Move to the Baby Set² only when the child can sit unaided.
From the time your child can sit unaided / sit up unassisted (approx. 6 months).
Install the Baby Set² with the seat plate in the top slot / first groove from the top. Use the Baby Set², restraint system, and Extended Gliders when Tripp Trapp® is used as a high chair.
As your child grows; always use restraints and adjust to fit snugly.
Re-fit the 5-point harness so it stays snug. The Baby Set² harness adjustment page shows length adjustment at the shoulder and waist straps and fastening both sides into the center buckle until they click.
As the child grows — check at least once a year.
Adjust the seat and footrest height and depth to your child. The seat should support 3/4 of the thighs, elbows should be level with the table, the soles should rest flat on the footrest, and the footrest must not protrude past the front tip of the chair legs. Stokke also recommends a minimum of two open grooves between the seat plate and the footplate.
At 36 months, 15 kg, or when the child can go safely in and out of the chair on its own accord, whichever occurs first.
Stop using Tripp Trapp® as a high chair with the Baby Set² and harness. If continuing to use the chair, re-adjust the seat and footrest for the child's size.
