Transitions

Key transitions

Adjustments and changes as your baby grows, in the order they typically come up.

Use newborn neck cushion support

Safety critical

For the first 0-8 weeks

Fold the neck cushion inside the body panel to provide essential support for your newborn's delicate neck and head.

Adjust body panel size as baby grows

Safety critical

Depending on the length and weight of your baby

Adjust the snaps hidden inside the waistbelt to one of the four body-panel sizing positions. Each time you resize, check that your baby's knees are higher than the bum and that the fabric fully supports the thighs.

Reposition the neck cushion after the newborn phase

Recommended

After the first 0-8 weeks / depending on the age of your baby and the desired neck support

Stop using the fold-inside newborn neck-cushion setup. Attach the neck cushion to the gold buttons using the button holes for more neck support or the elastic loops for more room for movement.

Start front carry facing out

Safety critical

From 6 months onwards; only once your baby is able to hold his/her head upright

Use the specifically designed facing-out insert on the inside of the carrier before placing your baby facing out. Limit this position to 15 minutes at a time.

Start back carry

Safety critical

When your baby has good head and solid core control and can move from a laying down position to sitting position by him- or herself; this usually starts from 6 months onwards

You may begin using the back carry. Only do so after adequate practice, and assemble the carrier on a soft surface or with someone helping you.

Safety

Usage warnings

  • Always read all instructions carefully before assembling and using the carrier, and keep the printed instructions brochure for future reference.
  • Always check the carrier for damage before use. Do not use or stop using the product if parts are missing or damaged.
  • Always check that all buckles, buttons, snaps, straps, and adjustments are secure before each use.
  • Always ensure proper placement of the child in the carrier, including correct leg positioning.
  • Always make sure you can kiss your child at the top of his or her head if carrying on your front.
  • Children under 4 months can suffocate in this product if the face is pressed too tight against your body.
  • Premature children, children with respiratory problems, and children under 4 months are at greater risk of suffocation.
  • Never strap the child too tight against your body.
  • Always allow room for head movement for the child.
  • Keep the child's face free from obstructions at all times.
  • For newborns, position the waistband high enough so your baby's head is easily kissable, sniffable, and visible.
  • Ensure your baby has free airflow at all times.
  • Position your baby's legs in the natural 'M' shape, with knees slightly higher than the hips/bum.
  • Always adjust the carrier's padded leg openings to fit the baby's legs snugly.
  • Only carry your child on your back after adequate practice; assemble the carrier while on a soft surface or with someone to help.
  • Use front carry facing out only with the specifically designed facing-out insert.
  • When facing out, limit carrying to 15 minutes at a time because your baby can easily become overstimulated.
  • Never bend at the waist while wearing the carrier; bend at the knees.

Product notes

Compatibility

  • Official Artipoppe sources list three supported carrying positions for the Zeitgeist Baby Carrier: front carry facing in, front carry facing out, and back carry.
  • Hip carry is not listed as a supported position for the Zeitgeist Baby Carrier in Artipoppe's official instructions/FAQ.
  • The facing-out insert is automatically included with every Zeitgeist Baby Carrier and is required for the front carry facing out position.
  • The Zeitgeist Baby Carrier is adjustable to four sizing positions to meet your baby's growth.
  • The neck cushion can be adjusted to three different positions depending on the age of your baby and the desired neck support.

Setup notes

  • For newborns, you may need to wear the waistband just below your breasts or chest to keep your baby's head kissable, sniffable, and visible.
  • For a tighter fit, use the neck cushion's button holes for more neck support.
  • For a little more room for movement, use the neck cushion's elastic loops.
  • When adjusting the body panel size, always check that your baby's knees are higher than his/her bum and that the fabric fully supports his/her thighs.
  • When using front carry facing out, attach the facing-out insert on the inside of the carrier; it narrows the body panel so your child's arms can wrap around it and supports the child's chest.
