Product notes

Compatibility

  • Submitted name maps to the Philips Avent Soothie family rather than one single SKU.
  • Philips' official Soothie family page shows two size stages: 0-3 months and 3-18 months.
  • Philips says all Soothies have the same nipple shape and one-piece design, and come with a variety of shield shapes.
  • Philips FAQ says Soothie is available in a round shape and a heart/curved shape.
  • Heart/curved-shield Soothie versions are designed to follow the natural curves of baby's face for maximum comfort without bumping into the nose.
  • Standard Soothie product pages describe a symmetrical, round nipple that gently sits in baby's mouth and helps reduce pressure between the tongue and mouth.
  • Soothie Heart product pages describe a collapsible nipple with a symmetrical shape that respects baby's teeth and gums.
  • Philips says age guidelines are important because pacifier nipples and shields vary in size, hardness and shape.

Setup notes

  • To attach a soother holder, only use the hole in the tab/extra tab of the pacifier.
  • Philips recommends using a pacifier/soother holder with a thin string.
  • Only use dedicated soother holders tested to EN 12586 or pacifier holders that comply with local regulations.

Care instructions

  • Before first use, place the pacifier in boiling water for 5 minutes, let it cool down, then squeeze any water out of the teat/nipple.
  • Before each use, clean with warm water and mild soap.
  • Soothers are suitable for all commonly used forms of sterilization.
  • Philips also says to sterilize using a Philips Avent Steam Sterilizer or boil in water for 5 minutes; after sterilization, allow to cool for at least 5 minutes and squeeze out any trapped water.
  • Clean surfaces and your hands thoroughly before contact with sterilized soothers.
